Lee Graves, a graduate of the
College of William & Mary and former career journalist, has
been writing about beer since 1996, when he started a weekly beer
column in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He has written for numerous
publications and has authored three books: “Richmond Beer: A
History of Brewing in the River City,” “Charlottesville Beer:
Brewing in Jefferson’s Shadow,” and, most recently, “Virginia Beer:
A Guide from Colonial Days to Craft’s Golden Age.” In addition to
writing, Graves is involved in beer history efforts and serves as
president of the non-profit group Richmond Beeristoric. Graves has
two daughters and lives in Richmond with his wife, Margaret.
